Abstract:
The scientific community faces unprecedented political attacks — federal scientists have been fired en masse, research programs have been rolled back and critical data sets are imperiled. The deluge of headlines have made understanding the legal landscape surrounding these political actions deeply difficult. The Climate Science Legal Defense Fund navigates legal challenges scientists and the scientific endeavor are facing, and in this session, we will provide clarity on the current legal landscape for many of these cases, and also provide insight and guidance into what the future brings for researchers. We will also provide a thorough primer on your first amendment rights and best practices on participating in advocacy and activism safely, both professionally and personally.
