Abstract:
Dr. Alexander Klimchouk played an important role in defining the hydrogeology of the Balcones Fault Zone Edwards Aquifer of South-Central Texas and the Edwards Plateau Edwards Aquifer of Texas. Dr. Klimchouk brought his insight obtained from his work in the extensive gypsum caves of Ukraine to Texas. His experience and knowledge helped to refine our understanding of groundwater flow under eipgenic and hypogenic conditions. His insights were included in the groundwater modeling process by the Edwards Aquifer Authority as well as responses to hazardour materials releases. In addition, Dr. Klimchouk was an Edwards Aquifer Authority Distinguished lecturer and presented a six hour overview of karst processes from his work in Europe to a Texas audience. Dr. Lkimchouk was also the Subaru's Distingiished Lecturer at a GSA Annual Meeting. This presentation will highlight Dr. Klimchouk's contribution to Texas and an overview of his career.
