Abstract:

This study presents a comprehensive overview of various aspects of Bangladesh, based on selected data indicative its economy, agriculture, climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, groundwater management and policies. Bangladesh is a densely populated country with a growing economy heavily reliant on agriculture. Groundwater plays a crucial role in irrigation, but over-extraction and water quality issues are concerns. Climate change poses significant risks on groundwater availability, including increased greenhouse gas emissions. The government has initiated policies and actions to improve water management and reduce emissions. Greenhouse gas emission sources and mitigation strategies, particularly in the agriculture sector, where rice cultivation is a major contributor were discussed. This review further provides a detailed overview of the challenges and initiatives related to climate change, agriculture, and groundwater management in Bangladesh, highlighting the country's efforts to address these issues and achieve sustainable development.
