Abstract:
Social media platforms have become a primary method for sharing new scientific findings, not only with other scientists, but also with policy makers, practitioners, and the general public. These platforms allow scientists to expand the reach and impact of their work, engage in discourse regarding new discoveries, and build a network of peers.
But where do you begin? In the ever-changing social media landscape, it can be confusing to know where to post and how to create engaging content. Using real examples, this presentation will give an overview of best practices for using social media to promote your research. The session will report on the overall benefits and impact of social media promotion, provide tips for identifying and avoiding scientific jargon, and demonstrate how to create an engaging post about your work across a variety of platforms.
