Instructions
1. Click "Submit an Abstract" in the central menu to view session types.
2. Click "View and Submit—Topical Sessions" to peruse the Topical Session gallery and determine if there is a session that fits your abstract(s). You can use the search tools to filter for sessions related to your research. If you find one that is a fit, simply select the title of the session to which you would like to submit to initiate the abstract submission process.
3. If you do not see a session that is a fit, please choose "Submit—Discipline Sessions" from the central menu and select the category under which your paper should fall to be included in the discipline session for that category.
To note:
- Abstract Limits: You may submit up to two (2) abstracts, one oral and one poster, OR two posters as the presenting author. The abstracts must cover different content.
- The only exceptions to this rule are if you have been formally asked to be an "invited" speaker or if you are presenting in a session being conducted in Spanish.
- You do not need to finish your submission in one sitting. You may return to the portal to make edits/additions up to the submission deadline.
- Presentation Mode: You may select "oral" or "poster" for the mode of presentation. If you do not have a preference, kindly choose “either.”
- The session conveners may override your choice if your abstract fits into a session with a presentation mode different from your choice. Session and program organizers’ decisions are final.
- Support: If you would like your abstract placed in a different session from where you started your submission, or need other support, please contact meetings@geosociety.org for assistance.
- GSA does not edit your abstract(s) prior to the committee’s evaluation. Please make sure your abstract text description is the final version, and free from spelling and grammatical errors.
- Are you a student? There are many sessions designed just for you. We recommend working with your advisor during the submission process and starting early!
- Abstract Fees: You must pay to submit an abstract. Abstract fees are non-refundable and in USD. Abstract fees are based on the SUBMITTER'S member type. Invited Speakers must also pay the abstract fee.
- Abstracts must describe recent findings in the realms of science, pedagogy, or their applications.
- All abstracts undergo peer review. Common reasons for rejection include dubious conclusions, questionable methodologies, poorly written prose, and incomplete or outdated information.
