The Arbuckle Simpson Aquifer (ASA) is a critical water supply for south-central Oklahoma. The ASA is a fractured karst aquifer composed of limestone, dolomite, and sandstone, defined by complex structural geology such as large fault structures and unique hydrogeologic connectivity. The study area, located within this region, overlays multiple geological formations, including the Vanoss Group and Tishomingo and Troy Granites, which is separated by a fault running perpendicular to the Blue River. The Kirsch Spring is situated on the fault, where it is suspected to be fed by multiple groundwater flow paths, making it an important location to assess how geology influences water sourcing and quality. We installed an ERI line of 840 meters with 15-meter spacing to better understand recharge and fault dynamics within this location. Additionally, we installed a transducerand barometer at Kirsch Spring that collects seasonal information, such as conductivity, temperature, water level, and atmospheric pressure. Previous fieldwork included a topographic survey, and a “dry conditions” ERI image to identify fault structures. Recent fieldwork included running the ERI line in “wet conditions” to identify recharge features. Future work is anticipated to include coring at least one identified fault structure for additional microbiology and water chemistry analyses. This work will contribute to both stakeholder engagement, and our understanding of the discharge of the southern boundary of the karst aquifer system.
