The Trans-Pecos magmatic province of Texas hosts numerous Paleocene- to Miocene-aged intrusive and extrusive igneous bodies that formed during the transition from subduction-related compression to subsequent regional extension. A series of alkaline intrusions occur along a northwest–southeast-trending belt in the northern part of the province, encompassing compositions that range from mafic to highly evolved felsic magmatism.
The Bureau of Economic Geology conducts geologic mapping and geochemical sampling in support of critical mineral assessments within this region. GEOCHEMWTX (Trans-Pecos Texas Geochemistry Explorer) is an interactive GIS platform designed to visualize and disseminate geochemical data collected from the Trans-Pecos magmatic province of Texas and is accessible at https://maps.beg.utexas.edu/portal/apps/sites/#/geochemwtx. The platform provides sample locations, lithologic information, and whole-rock geochemical data. It also enables visualization of the distribution and variation of critical elements and selected major oxides across the different intrusive complexes. The datasets will be updated as new studies are completed and additional data become available.
