Abstract:
Zamora-Chinchipe Province, Ecuador is the center of the 120-km-long, NNE-SSW trending Corriente Copper-Gold Belt,, located at the western margin of the Amazon craton a significant frontier for high-quality mineral deposits part of the Andean Cordillera del Condor, featuring epithermal gold-silver ( Fruta del Norte ( FDN) and Nambija). .
The purpose of this presentation is to review the gold geology of the Guayzim Alto concession.with a comparrative analogous models of Fruta del Norte and Nambija gold mines. This presentation is based upon Volcan Holdings attained reports (1990, 1995, 2024), 6893 m of cores, 2000 m underground mine samples ,25000 geochemical assays, geological maps and cross sections and the NI-43-101 report ( 2016) of FDN .Volcan Mining Company is reactivating the mining operations.
Guayzim is underlain by crystal – lithic and welded tuffs, ash, massive volcanic flows, flow breccia’s, and sedimentary rocks .Geological mapping demonstrate 4 major skarn deposits in the proximity of the Zamora Batholith. Normal( extensional) fault networks created by metasomitism, increased structural competency ,for hydrothermal fluids transportation. Emicrothermometric data Th from 513°C to 318°C and salinity from 1.0 to 23 wt.% eq. NaCl and δ18O values between 6.2‰ and 11.5‰ for gold-bearing milky quartz from the retrograde stage suggest that the ore-forming fluid was dominantly magmatic.
3-d models of the Guyazimi central deposit and FDN are comparable . Target areas are where north – south mineralized faults intersect east – west (90°) and N70°E (70°) as well as N55° W (125°) zones of quartz –sulphide stock work veining and faulting
Reserve estimates from the top 200 m ,4 areas of Skarn deposits contain 1) Guayzimi Central Skarn body ( 17 cores, Au 6.13 g/t ) 134,490 Au oz., 40000 oz. Au previously mined with 50000 Au oz. remaining, 2)La Escondida Skarn( 4 core holes Au 1.81 g/t )151000 oz. Au, 3) Cerro-Banderas – Minanca ( 7 core holes Au 2.14 g/t) 165000 oz. Au. 4) Western Skarn ( 3 core holes Au .314 g/ t ) 12,246 oz Au totaling 462000 oz. Au resources .
Geological cross-sections demonstrate four areas ( depth 200-700m) of significant upside gold potenital , 1) Central Skarn deposit, 2) La Esconndida, 3)Quebrada Grandillas and 4) Cerro- Banderas , where extensive quartz– sericite - Kfeldspar – pyrite alteration occurring in creeks, suggest the existence of a porphyry style phyllic alteration
